Marion County Highway Engineer Mike McCormick says the Heinzmann Road has been reopened to traffic following a four month closure for reconstruction. The improved section of roadway is from the Route 161 Extension to the Kell Road in Kell.
The project was completed with $1-million from the Illinois Department of Transportation through their federal pass-through program and $250,000 in federal matching funds appropriated by the Marion County Board.
The improvements now make Heinzmann Road a truck route. It is utilized to reach the Kell Grain Elevator.
