Centralia Police say five people were arrested following a fight that broke out in the food section of the Centralia Walmart store Monday night.

Police believe the altercation was the result of a fight earlier in the day at Centralia High School where another person was arrested.

Police responded to the Walmart following multiple 911 calls at 7:35 Monday night to find the fight between five young women still underway. Police were quickly able to break up the altercation, but not before a Walmart employee who had earlier tried to intervene was injured.

Three adults and two juveniles were arrested for aggravated battery in a public place. The adults are identified as 20-year-old Jakayla Cooper of East Howard in Centralia who was taken to the Clinton County Jail at Carlyle and 21-year-old Shakaria Woodley of Fairway Drive in Centralia and 18-year-old Raozhana Hall-Louis of McKee Street in Centralia who were given notices to appear in court. The two 15-year-old female juveniles from Irvington were released to their parents.

Walmart reports $265 in damage to the Pretzel Kiosk during the fight. Initial reports do not indicate if the Walmart employee required hospital treatment. A grandmother of one of those fighting had also attempted to break up the fight before police arrived.

Earlier in the day, police say a fight was broken up between two juvenile females at Centralia High School. One of the juveniles was charged with aggravated battery. The victim in that fight is identified as a 15-year-old Centralia girl.
