Funeral services for Mary H. Livingston, 99, of O’Fallon, Illinois, formerly of Mount Vernon, Illinois, will be held on Monday, September 9, 2024, at 1:30 pm at the Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens Chapel in Woodlawn, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm at the Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens Chapel.
Mary died at 2:00 am Thursday, September 5, 2024 at her home with family present.
Mary was born April 28, 1925 in Mount Vernon, the daughter of Roy and Hattie (Dycus) Howard.
On June 13, 1948, in Mount Vernon, Mary married J.C. Livingston who preceded her in death on March 15, 1985. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by their son, Jay Scott Livingston; their daughter, Janet Sue Livingston; her parents; and two brothers, Glenn and Billy Howard.
Prior to their marriage, Mary worked as a bookkeeper for Starr Bros Oil and then for 37 years, she and J.C. owned and operated Livingston Pharmacy in Mount Vernon from 1955 to 1978.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mount Vernon.
Mary enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge, and was an avid golfer with her friends. Later in life, she enjoyed traveling with her friends and watching Cardinal baseball games.
Mary is survived by her nephews, Russ and Teresa Howard of Thornfield, Missouri and their children: John and Nancy Howard of Texico, Illinois and their children: Jim and Peggy Howard of O’Fallon, Illinois, and their children in addition to several other nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by close friends, Roger and Janice Bleisch and their family of Dahlonega, Georgia.
The family asks that memorials be made to Shriner’s Hospitals for Children.
