Dora Mae Hamilton Norfleet, 92, of Tuscola, formerly of Brocton, passed away at 3:15 p.m., Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at the Tuscola Health Care Center, Tuscola, IL.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, September 7, 2024, at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL. Burial will be in the Edgar Cemetery, Paris, IL.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Saturday.
Dora was born April 21, 1932, in Edgar County near Brocton, IL, the daughter of John Forrest and Louise Geiling Hamilton. She married Harold Lee Norfleet of Dix, IL on June 18, 1955, in Champaign, IL. He preceded her in death on December 9, 2006.
Survivors include 2 sons: Michael J. (Teresa) Norfleet of Longview, TX, and Charles W. Norfleet (fiancé Dana Stock) of Wichita, KS, 3 grandsons: Mark (April) Norfleet, Mike (Kelli) Norfleet and Parker Norfleet and a granddaughter: Staci Norfleet, 2 great-grandsons: Grayson Gomez and Jacob Norfleet, 2 great-granddaughters: Amelia Norfleet and Addyson Gomez and 2 brothers: Arthur (Rosa) Hamilton of Chicago and Kenneth (Mary Helen) Hamilton of Paris, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers and a sister.
Dora graduated from Brocton Community High School and Illinois Commercial College in Champaign. She was employed by the Arrowhead Council Boy Scout headquarters in Champaign, V.O. Colson Company in Paris, and was a nurse’s aide at St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia. She served with her husband as co-manager of Oil Belt Christian Service Camp in Flora. She was a homemaker, self-employed as an upholsterer and seamstress. She also worked as a cook in the Tuscola School District.
