Sharon Virginia Minor, 82, of Odin, IL. passed away Sept. 1, 2024 at St. Louis University Hospital. She was born the daughter of Jay and Virginia (Evans) Newman on April 30, 1942. She married the love of her life George Edgar Minor on Sept. 26, 1959 and he preceded her in death on Feb. 17, 2014.
Survivors include two daughters Debbie Hunter, husband Ronald of Junction City, Sherry Minor, special friend Walt of Mt. Vernon, and son Allan Minor, wife Mary Lu; grandchildren Wade Hunter, wife Angie, Brooks Simpson, fiancée Crystal Ainsworth, Kristen Larson, husband Nick, Lacey Hunter, fiancé Heath, Amanda Furlong, husband Drew, and Tyson Minor, wife Karrigan; great-grandchildren Elena, Alaric, Landon, Kennedy, Kruz, Kade, Quincey, Emerson, Tinsley, Teagan, Tatum, Ryleigh, Brayson; sisters Juanita Terry, Barb Henderson, Gloria Burns, 2 sisters-in-law Leanna Sue Timmons and Lil Smith; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Along with her husband, George “Bunny” Minor, Sharon was preceded in death by both of her parents, sister Anita Kratz and Becky Blakenship, and brother Wayne Newman.
Sharon was one to always share her mind and opinion with others, known for being a bit of a spitfire. Her bold and bubbly personality was one to bring a smile to your face. Known as the Queen Bee at June Bugs, she treasured her friendships there and considered them family. Sharon was an avid race fan, especially watching her son Allan race motorcycles, attending Nascar races, along with watching them on television. She was always saying bring me home a trophy. Sharon treasured the time spent with her family and will be remembered as the best nanny.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 6, 2024 at Day Macz Funeral Home in Sandoval with Brother Claude Howell officiating. Interment will follow at Peaceful Valley Cemetery in Odin. Friends and relatives are invited for a visitation period on 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, 2024 at the funeral home and one hour prior to the services on Friday. Memorial contributions in Sharon’s memory may be made to the Odin Fire Department.
