Joseph E. Isaak, age 84, passed away peacefully at his home in Carlyle on Sunday, September 1, 2024.
He was born in Carlyle on August 21, 1940, the son of John and Helen (Revermann) Isaak. He married Helen Wilken at St. Mary Catholic Church on June 1, 1960, and she survives in Carlyle.
Joe was the owner and operator of Isaak Insurance in Carlyle for many years, providing support and guidance to countless clients. His commitment to community service extended beyond his business; he served as a Trustee for the village of Huey, was a former member of the Huey – Ferrin – Boulder Fire Department, and held the position of Carlyle Township Supervisor for many years. Up until the last couple of years, he was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, where he forged lasting bonds and contributed to the community’s betterment.
Joe enjoyed playing golf and bowling in his leisure time. He took immense pride in attending his children and grandchildren’s baseball games, where he was known for his enthusiastic encouragement and candid opinions from the sidelines. His love for sports was only surpassed by his deep affection for his family.
Joe is survived by his devoted wife, Helen Isaak, and their two sons, Tim (Judy) Isaak and Todd (Regina) Isaak. He was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren and cherished his role as a great-grandfather to seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by four loving sisters, who held a special place in his heart.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Joe’s life and legacy on Thursday, September 5, 2024. A Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Carlyle at 10:00 AM, followed by interment at Carlyle Township Cemetery.
Memorials in memory of Joe are suggested to St. Mary’s Catholic Church and will be received at church or at Nordike Funeral Home, 740 Fairfax Street, Carlyle, IL 62231.
