A 21-year-old Iuka man facing murder and other charges surrounding the death of Nita Mobley of Salem in a May crash on West Main and Hotze Roads has waived a jury trial and is asking for a bench trial.
The attorney for Justin Bullard of North Avenue made the request during a Marion County Court hearing this week.
The bench trial is now set for September 12th. The court was told the trial would likely take three days.
In addition to first-degree murder, Bullard is charged with aggravated driving under the influence resulting in death, aggravated street racing, and reckless homicide. He’s accused of driving at a high rate of speed while traveling eastbound on West Main and struck an westbound vehicle driven by Mobley as she was turning onto Hotze Road.
