Phillip Andrew Bauer, 85, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 10:30 am August 2, 2024 at his residence. He was born March 23, 1939 in Benton, Illinois to the late Joe and Pauline (Phillips) Bauer. Phillip married Betty (Hall) Bauer on September 22, 1962 in Benton, Illinois. They were blessed with fifty-two years of marriage before she preceded him in death on March 21, 2015.
Phillip is survived by his sons, Mark Bauer and wife, Michelle of Woodbridge, Virginia and Tim Bauer of Mount Vernon, Illinois; grandchildren, Taylor Bauer, Laynie Bauer, and Truvaunty Badger; great-grandchild, Lillian Zacharias; brother, David Bauer and wife, JoEllen of Evansville, Indiana; sister, Nancy DeLatour of Benton, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Phillip was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Bauer and sister, Jodine Wallace.
Phillip owned Mount Vernon Warehouse Furniture for 20 years and also worked as an United States Postal Service Mailman. He served others as a Financial Advisor/Stock Brocker. Phillip was a member of Central Christian Church where he served faithfully as an Elder and Deacon. He will be missed dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Memorial Service will begin at 2:00 pm with Mr. J. Howard Kraps officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Phillip’s honor to Central Christian Church in Mount Vernon, First Christian Church in Benton, Southern Illinois Christian Service Camp, or Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
