Congressional candidate and former Republican candidate for Governor Darren Bailey visited with those at the Marion County Fairgrounds Wednesday night.

Conversations included the new indictments against former President Donald Trump in connection with the January 6th attack on the Capitol.  He called the indictments a shell game and part of a witch hunt that will fail miserably.

“People here in southern Illinois are standing up and supporting President Trump.  They are educated and understand all of this nonsense that has been coming down.  They understand the political game that’s involved with these trumped-up charges.  This is absolutely nonsense and  I believe the Democrat party is scared to death of Donald Trump and that he is going to get re-elected.  I think that we are going to see these games all the way up until this man is elected and starts cleaning this up.  And I’m going to be honored to be by his side with him for that.”

If elected, Bailey says he will work backward from Washington DC to make improvements for Illinois.

Bailey says there is no way that Joe Biden will be the Democratic candidate for President.  He expects the candidate will either be Illinois Governor JB Pritzker or California Governor Gavin Newsom because of the personal wealth they can bring to the campaign.

Bailey is running against incumbent Republican Congressman Mike Bost in the GOP Primary next March.   Bost is scheduled to be at the Marion County Fair on Friday night at six to present a US House proclamation honoring Marion County on its 200th birthday celebration.
