The Marion County 4H Super Showmanship award winner is Anthony Wilkins of Salem.

Wilkins showed a sheep, pig, and cow which allowed him to mostly work with his own animals during the competition.

“Constant work everyday.  We are out there with animals at least three hours a day.”

Wilkins also had the grand champion Barrow.   He’s looking forward to the state competition at the State Fair in Springfield later in August.   The reserve showmanship winner was Alexus Hammond.  Six 4H members competed for the award.

In the Junior Showmanship competition, Hallie Borcherding beat out 11 other competitors.  How did she get the animals to cooperate.

“The pigs are very hard headed and don’t’ want to do what you want to do sometimes.  My dad helps a lot with getting the pigs ready and you have to work hard.  What you put in is what you are going to get out of it.”

Borcherding showed a pig and sheep at this year’s show.  She will be entering 8th grade and is home schooled.  The reserve junior showmanship winner was Martin Douglas.
