An unoccupied mobile home was destroyed by fire in Wamac early Thursday morning.

Centralia Fire Protection District Chief Ross Boshera says flames were shooting through the windows and around the roof of the home at 300 Sanders Street upon their arrival. The fire appears to have started in the living room area. The State Fire Marshal’s office has been called in to try and determine the exact cause.

Boshera says the fire was first discovered by a neighbor and was well involved when the Wamac Police Officer arrived on the scene.

The fire call came in at 4:37 am with firemen on the scene for two and a half hours.

Boshera says there were no issues fighting the fire other than the hot and humid conditions.
