A 29-year-old Mt. Vernon man has been sentenced to 18 years in prison after pleading guilty in Jefferson County Court to an armed violence charge.

As part of the deal, Codey Ince had charges of armed habitual offender and possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of less than five grams of methamphetamine were dropped.

Mt. Vernon Police arrested Ince during a January traffic stop after developing information he was involved in drug distribution and was in possession of a handgun.  Both meth and a handgun were reportedly recovered in the traffic stop.

Jefferson County Assistant State’s Attorney Blake Jennings handled the prosecution.
