David L. Gray, 75, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 2:35 am July 21, 2024 at Saint Louis University Hospital in Saint Louis, Missouri. He was born July 14, 1949 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to the late Benjamin and Joyce E. (Gowler) Gray.
David is survived by his son, Tyler Gray and wife, Tegan of Bluford, Illinois; grandchildren, Dalton Hart, Hunter Gray, Ireland Spiller and husband, Phoenix, Dreydyn Hart, Noelle Gray, Freya Gray, and Tayla Gray; great-granddaughter, Oaklynn Meier; brother, Scott Gray and wife, Cathy of Overland Park, Kansas; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his daughter, Ashley Gray; brothers, Steve and Darrell Gray; and nephew, Steve Gray.
David worked as a food salesman for many years. He was a member of Mount Vernon Elks and Moose Lodge. David enjoyed bowling, golfing, and was a fan of the Saint Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs. He was an avid crossword puzzle player.
A private family graveside burial of ashes will be held at a later date.
