The Illinois Department of Public Health is offering free HEPA air purifiers to licensed daycare centers across the state.
Daycares can request one of more than 20-thousand air purifiers to help reduce transmission of dangerous viruses, says Public Health’s Charles Williams. He says they don’t want a repeat of last year.
Williams says, “This goes back to last Fall where we saw the triple epidemic surge of COVID, flu, and RSV and we saw emergency rooms flooded with families and babies that had RSV, so this is a mitigation intervention that addresses multiple pathogens.”
State licensed daycares outside of Chicago are encouraged to request an air purifier which comes with a three year supply of filters. The deadline to apply is July 31st.
