2024 07/22 – Loren B. Barker

Loren B. Barker, age 91 of Salem, passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.

Loren was born on August 9, 1932, the son of Juel and Eva (Wilson) Barker.  He married Janet J. (Boger) Barker on November 9, 1957, in Mt. Vernon, Illinois and she preceded him in death on December 10, 2018, after spending 60 years united in marriage.

Loren is survived by his daughters, Karen Walter and Jim of Centralia, Angie Applegate of Salem; and Lori Martin and husband John of Salem; grandchildren, Brandy, Chandra, Luke, Jimmy, Abram, Matthew, Bethany, and Chanel; great-grandchildren, Payson, Leighton, Hayven, J.D., Charlotte, Zane, Briar, Baron, Lane, Harrison, Lyla and Josephine; and a brother, Marvin Barker of TN.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a grandson, Roudey Hensley; one brother; and two sisters.

Loren honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.   He was a member of the Grace Church of the Nazarene.

He worked as an Engineer manager for Vaculift/ACCO.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.

Funeral services for Loren Barker will be held at 11:30 am on Monday, July 22, 2024, at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem.  Burial will follow at Barker Cemetery in Broughton, Illinois.  There will be a visitation held on Monday from 9:30 am until the time of the service.  Memorial contributions can be made to the Pregnancy Care Clinic and will be received at the funeral home.  Online condolences and memories can be left at www.CrouseFH.com
