The $2.8-million addition to the South Central Middle School remains on schedule with a key part of the project to be completed before the start of school in August.
Superintendent Kerry Herdes provided the school board Wednesday night with an update.
“We’re shooting for the bathroom renovation to be completely done at the middle school by the end of July. That’s the idea we started with. Really no change in the timeline for the new construction of the hallways, lobby, and bathrooms there. That’s mid-Septemberish to late September depending on rain, weather, delays, and getting supplies.”
Herdes says it will not be an issue to start school without the new lobby, connection hallway, and renovation of the front of the gym completed since physical education students would mostly be outside anyway during the early fall.
