The Salem City Council has approved a resolution in support of broadband service for all parts of Marion County.   The county board’s Broadband Committee Chair Chris Krupp brought the issue before the city council.

“The state is giving out money to help expand broadband throughout the counties of Illinois, the underserved or unserved areas as they call it.  We’re going through the process to see if we can do that.  There sounds like there is a lot of money involved to write this grant so I don’t even know if the county will be willing to put that forward.  But we do have a committee set up for it.”

Krupp says the Marion County Board and the City of Centralia will be asked to sign similar resolutions of support.
