Walter Moats, 70 of Centralia, passed away June 30, 2024.
He was born in Sherman, Illinois to Silas Willard and Alice Marie (Garrett) Moats. He is survived by a son, Justin W. Moats and wife, Valerie, of Salem and a daughter, Angela Gibson and husband, Jerry of Centralia; her brother: John Moats of Springfield, Illinois; sisters, Sherry Edwards of Springfield, Illinois, Marty Cody of Springfield, and Juliann McCallister of Virden, Illinois; grandchildren, Karena Renae Gaul, Kyle Scott Lipscomb, Kayleigh Anne Edwards-Moats, Karter Michael Edwards-Moats, Alexis Moats and Silas Moats; four great-grandchildren and one on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters.
Mr. Moats enjoyed fishing, camping, working on cars, and watching the car races and was a factory worker.
Per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and a private family Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
