The Salem 11u All Stars opened up District play in Mt Carmel with a 16-2 win over Olney last night. Salem broke it open with 6 runs in the 2nd and 7 more in the third inning.
Devan Jennings had a big night driving in 3 runs, Eli Purdy had 3 hits and 2 RBI, Emit Gibson also drove in 2 on 3 hits. Dakota Gregg was 2-2 with a triple 2 RBI and 2 runs scored. Isaac Knaap scored 3 runs.
Gregg was the winning pitcher going 3 innings allowing 3 hits and 1 run with 4 strikeouts. Tanner Purintun worked an inning as well as hitting a home run.
Salem returns to action tonight in the semifinal at 6pm against either Mt Carmel or Robinson. The other team plays Olney at 8pm tonight in an elimination game.
