One of the biggest crowds ever attended the Greater Salem Area Foundation swim night at the Salem Aquatic Center Friday night.

This was the first time admission was not charged and Foundation member Tabatha Meador says that proved extremely popular.

“There was a line at the door starting about six o’clock.  We opened at 6:15.  We had a great crowd that came through that enjoyed the free night at the swimming pool along with the refreshments.  Everything was provided by generous donors in the Salem community.   We greatly appreciate that.  We believe we had about 400 people who came through and had a great night at the Saalem Aquatic Center.”

Meador says a number of other donations were also made to the foundation to sponsor the event raising $2,500 to $3,000.   Modern Woodman then matched the amount of money raised bringing the total to $5,000 to $6,000.

The foundation assists families in the Salem Community High School District with single-time needs.
