Dorothy June Bradford, 84, of Keenes, Illinois, passed away at 3:55 pm July 10, 2024 at her home. She was born March 23, 1940 in Wayne County, Illinois to the late Arthur and Wilma (Kennedy) McKinney. June married Freddie Bradford on December 24, 1959 in Jefferson County, Illinois. They were blessed with nearly 65 years of marriage.
In addition to her beloved husband, June is survived by her children, Lisa Feather of Carbondale, Illinois, Mike Bradford and wife, Melody of Keenes, Michelle Sheeler and husband, Keith of Salem, Illinois, Bert Haynes and wife, Judy of Bluford, Illinois, Dave Gammon and wife, Staci of Wayne City, Illinois, and Roy Evans and wife, Lisa of Johnsonville, Illinois; grandchildren, Randy Feather and wife, Renee of Makanda, Illinois, Brandi Jo Swift of Murphysboro, Illinois, Tyler Bradford of Glen Carbon, Illinois, Nicole Mack and husband, Carson of Mascoutah, Illinois, Joshua Sapp of Salem, Lindsey Deters of Salem, and Traser Sheeler of Mount Vernon, Illinois; great-grandchildren, Charlotte June, Olen Feather, Liam Swift, Naomi Mack, Ada Mack, Kyler Sapp, Hadleigh Sapp, Madilyn Deters, and Amelia Deters; sister, Frances Drew of Bluford; brother, Bill McKinney and wife, Linda of Salem; brother-in-law, John Lewis “Jug” Bradford and wife Peg; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, June was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey Dean “Bo” Bradford; and sisters, Lois Harper, Wanda Richardson, and Judy Byars.
June was a member of Keenes Baptist Church. She retired as a bus driver after many years of service. She loved to quilt and was the owner and operator of June’s Quilt Shop. June will be remembered as a loving wife, devoted mother, cherished grandmother, dear sister, and friend to many.
A Visitation will be held Monday, July 15, 2024, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 pm with Reverend Don Rector officiating. Interment will follow at Mateer-Davis Cemetery in Bluford, Illinois. Memorials may be made in June’s honor to the Bradford family, in the care of Freddie Bradford.
