The Centralia Regional Library District has a new director.

Former Assistant Director Tammy Wendling has been named to replace retiring director Diana Donahoo who retired on July 1st.

Board of Trustees President Julie Boltz noted in making the announcement that Tammy has a long history with the library which will be very helpful in making a smooth transition in leadership. Boltz also believes Tammy will bring new energy and ideas to the position and continue to provide excellent service to the library’s patrons.

Wendling has been with the Centralia Regional Library for over 30 years. She says one of her passions is helping people.

“I would like to continue on with the theme of the library is the heart of the community.  Making it the hub where it is a one stop hub where they can get the information they need.  Where they can get the help they need like using wifi or computers to apply for jobs, or need help applying for jobs, designing flyers for businesses or personal, or they want to learn more about how to learn more about social media so they can stay in contact with their families.”

Wendling says a lot has changed in 30 years, but she feels the library is still viable.

“A library is so much more than people coming in just to read books.”

Wendling wants to work to build relationships with different organizations and businesses as well as work on programs with other libraries in the region. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Leadership from Greenville University.
