A nurse practitioner from rural Centralia has been charged in Marion County Court with felony retail theft after allegedly changing barcodes on items purchased at the Salem Walmart on at least eight occasions.   Tamara Foltz of Rainer Lane was released on a $5,000 personal recognizance bond pending a first appearance with an attorney on August 2nd.  As a condition of bond she was ordered to have no contact with Walmart.

Salem Police say Foltz had initially been arrested for misdemeanor retail theft at the Salem Walmart Store on Monday and was given a notice to appear.   After Salem Police Detectives reviewed video evidence from eight incidents where barcodes allegedly had been switched, Foltz was asked to turn herself in at the police station on Tuesday on what was now a felony retail theft arrest.

When Foltz was taken to the Marion County Jail she was allegedly found in possession of narcotic pills without a prescription and was also arrested for possession of a controlled substance.  However, Salem Police say a decision on any charge in connection with the pills will not be made until after lab tests are complete on what the pills contain.
