The Salem 12u fell in the District Championship to Robinson 9-3 to end their post-season run. Salem was outhit 11-7 and committed 4 errors to the Maroons 0. Salem scored 3 times in the top of the first to grab an early lead only to see Robinson score 2 times in their first at bat. The Maroons tied it with a run in the 3rd, another in the 4th took the lead and then finished it with 5 runs in the fifth.
Jared Crompton doubled as part of his 2 hit day and drove in a run. Rhett Starnes also doubled home a run, Colton Tockstein added an RBI and run scored.
Crompton was the starting pitcher going 3.1 innings allowing 4 runs, 3 earned with 2 strikeouts. Tockstein worked the final 1.2 allowing 5 runs but none were earned as the Cats made 3 errors in the fateful 5th.
Our attention turns to the Salem 11u All Stars as they start District play this week at Mt Carmel. They open against Olney Friday night at 6pm with Mt Carmel and Robinson playing in the other opening round game.
