The 8u Pinto International World Series opened in Marion yesterday. The Patoka Patriots, Mount Vernon Renegades and the 618 Express of Centralia are 3 of the several teams taking part. Patoka went 2-0 to start their tournament with a 5-4 win over Kankakee ACBA and then beat the Mattoon All Stars 8-6.
Mount Vernon opened with a 23-12 win over the Frankfort Eagles and lost to the Laredo Texas All Stars 15-1.
The 618 Express opened with an 11-0 loss to Willemstad, Curacao and then shutout the Dominican Republic 6-0.
Weather permitting, pool play will conclude today. Patoka will play Marion at 8am and Kralendijk, Bonaire which is near Aruba and 80 miles off the coast of Venezuela, that game will begin at 5pm. Mount Vernon will play Herrin at 9:30 and Oranjestad, Aruba at 6:30. The 618 Express will play at 11 against the Cambria Gators and then the Marion Strikers at 8pm.
The tournament will conclude with bracket play on Sunday when a champion is crowned.
