Three area fire departments combined efforts to bring a wheat stubble fire on the southeast side of Centralia under control late Wednesday afternoon.

Centralia Fire Protection District Chief Ross Boshera says seven to eight areas of wheat stubble in all burned on the northwest corner of Greenview and Perrine Street Road.   He reports the fire was being whipped out of control by the wind.

Centralia City and Sandoval firemen were called for mutual aid assistance.  They were able to stop the fire within ten feet of an oil tank battery.   No buildings were ever endangered.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.

The fire call came in at 3:03 Wednesday afternoon with firemen on the scene for about two hours.
