It was a busy day on Wednesday for the Marion County Sheriff’s Department and Odin Police in handling theft investigations.
Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 36-year-old Terry Winkler of South Walnut in Centralia for theft over for possession of a stolen vehicle. He was allegedly found asleep in a pickup truck stolen from a residence on Burge Road east of Centralia late last month. Winkler was later returned to the Marion County Jail to await a decision on formal charges.
Another stolen vehicle was recovered with no one around it. Odin Police received a report from Pieces Pools on US 50 just after eight Wednesday morning that its box truck had been stolen from the parking lot. A social media post alerted police that the truck was parked at the Casey’s Store in Sandoval. It was recovered about an hour after being reported as stolen. There was no one around the vehicle and the investigation into the theft is ongoing.
Odin Police are continuing to investigate a report of a four-wheeler being stolen sometime before noon Wednesday from a home in the 100 block of Valentine Street.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Department was notified of a pickup truck being taken without permission early Wednesday night that was later reported as stolen from a home in the 900 block of Tonti Road in rural Salem.
The sheriff’s department received a report of a 30-foot flat bed trailer being stolen sometime before one Wednesday afternoon from a residence on Foster Lane in rural Xenia.
The sheriff’s department is also investigating the theft of a cell phone from a car in the 2400 block of Barton Road in Junction City. The Centralia woman who owned the phone reported an app on the phone was later used to remove $515 from her bank account.
