A 19-year-old Rockford man was killed in a single-vehicle crash on northbound I-57 near the Kinmundy-Patoka exit Thursday morning.
Marion County Coroner Troy Cannon says Alec Glaser apparently fell asleep and his Jeep drifted off onto the right shoulder, went through a ditch, and struck a tree. Glaser was apparently killed instantly.
Glaser had been traveling from Atlanta, Georgia to Rockford.
The accident investigation is being handled by State Police. Kinmundy/Alma Fire and EMS and Marion County Sheriff’s Office also assisted at the scene. The Crouse Funeral Home in Salem is assisting the family with local arrangements.
The crash was first reported at 6:07 Thursday morning.
