Most government offices will be closed Tuesday for the 4th of July.
That includes area courthouses and Salem and Centralia City Halls. However, garbage pickup will remain on the regular schedule in Salem with Tuesday pickup. However, landscape waste pickup normally completed on Tuesday will be completed on Wednesday this week. In Centralia, there will be no garbage pickup on Tuesday, with pickup running one day late the rest of the week.
There will be no home mail delivery on Tuesday and financial institutions will be closed.
There are a number of 4th of July fireworks displays in the area including in Salem over the Salem Reservoir at nine pm, in Centralia at Fairview Park at ten pm, and at Outland Airport in Mt. Vernon at nine pm. The Salem fireworks display will be larger than normal as the city celebrates its Bicentennial. The fireworks in Centralia caps the American Legion Homecoming underway nightly through July 4th. Mt. Vernon will have Market Days Craft Vendors, lazer tag, inflatables, concessions, and music at 7:30 pm leading up to the fireworks display.
