Martha Shaver, 87, of Centralia passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family, Friday, June 21, 2024, at Salem Township Hospital.
She was born on June 14, 1937, the daughter of Buster Leo and Hattie (Hawkins) Simer in Toone, Tennessee. She married Alvie N. Hull on March 9, 1956, in Salem and he preceded her in death in 1984. She later married Johnnie Shaver on November 19, 1992, in Centralia, and he preceded her in death on March 7, 2009.
Survivors include her beloved family, her 4 children, Connie Hull of Centralia, Steve Hull and wife Paula of Yorkville, Tennessee, Patty Shook and husband Ralph of Centralia, and John Hull of Centralia; brothers, Richard Simer, Ray Simer, and Ernie Simer; 5 cherished grandchildren; 8 precious great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Martha was preceded in death by her husband Alvie Hull; her husband Johnnie Shaver; her parents Buster Leo and Hattie Simer; brother, Eugene Simer; and sister, Pearl Claypool, Evelyn Williams, Mary Mays.
Martha was a member of the Apostolic Church in Centralia. Her working career found her as a loyal employee of Hollywood Brands Candy Factory in Centralia for 24 ½ years until the plant closed, leading to her retirement. She enjoyed her family, tending to flowers, and playing with her dog, Molly.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Elmwood Cemetery in Centralia with Pastor Jonathan Urshan officiating. Memorials may be made in Martha’s honor to her family for headstone expense and will be accepted for the family at the Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia.
