An 18-year-old Centralia man has been formally charged in Marion County Court with criminal sexual assault.

Judge Stanley Brandmeyer set bond for Kaleb Nagy of North Pine Street at $250,000 during his first appearance in court Friday morning.   The charge claims Nagy held down the alleged victim with his arm while he committed a sex act.

If released on bond, Nagy was ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim or residence.   A public defender was appointed to represent him with a preliminary hearing scheduled for July 18th at 11 am.

The Centralia Police Department said its investigation began after they were called to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital for a possible sexual assault report on Thursday night.  The alleged victim, who was 17, reported the sexual assault occurred in Foundation Park.

Nagy and the victim were co-workers at a local business.

Based on the information provided by the victim and the hospital staff, Nagy was located at his residence and taken into custody without incident.
