Eric Tye Bateman, 46, of Centralia, drifted away on June 9th, 2024 in St. Louis, Missouri. He was born on August 28, 1977, to Cindy (York) Gnau and Jerry A. Bateman.
Eric leaves behind his mother, Cindy (Bill) Gnau; son, Xander Tye Bateman; daughter, Meaghan Paige Bateman; brothers, Jim (Shanna) Bateman, Jaydon Bateman, and Zach Timmons; significant other, Christina Abney; bonus daughter, Ambrozia Dee Thomas, along with aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry A. Bateman, grandparents, uncles, and a niece.
Eric worked for Congra for 20 years and was a first responder. His co-workers were not only friends, but some were family. He played for the Wamac & Centralia City softball leagues for many years. He was an avid Cubs fan and a Minnesota Vikings fan. He loved to debate sports, history and aliens with anyone. Eric could be a smart alec at times but to know him was to love him. His greatest accomplishment wasn’t things, it was his 2 kids, Xander and Meaghan.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, June 17, 2024, at 2:00 PM at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia, with Pastor Ronnie Tabor officiating. Burial will follow at Peaceful Valley in Odin, Illinois. Visitation will be held Monday from noon until the time of service at the funeral home.
