The Mount Vernon trio of Malik Grissom, Jashawn Staples and Josh Crowder completed their road trip to Philadelphia to compete in the New Balance Middle School National Championships. Grissom was 6th overall in the 400m to finish as an All American. He ran his heat with just one other competitor as Grissom ran 54.72. His other competitor happened to end up being the National Champion Shahid Stevens who smoked the track in a blazing fast time of 51.71.
Staples and Crowder competed in a very fast and loaded 100m race. Crowder ran 11.81 missing the finals by just 0.005 and Staples ran well going in 11.96. Coach Doug Jones posted on his Facebook Page thanking all for the support and encouragement you’ve shown these three. They’ve read all of the comments and well wishes and appreciate them all.
