A 20-year-old Centralia man was airlifted by Air Evac Medical Helicopter to a St. Louis hospital following a single-vehicle crash in the 1100 block of Gragg Street late Thursday afternoon.
Centralia Police say Oliver Candler of South Walnut Street was westbound at what an area resident reported was a high rate of speed before they heard a crash.
Candler’s pickup truck rolled over and Candler was ejected from the vehicle into a rocky area. He is believed to have received head, neck, and back injuries. Due to the extent of injuries, the Air Evac helicopter landed near the scene of the crash and immediately transported Candler to a St. Louis Hospital.
Candler told police there was a female passenger, but none could be found in a search by police, fire, and EMS personnel. The person identified was later located at home by Wamac Police.
The crash was first reported at 4:32 Thursday afternoon.
