State Police have released the names of the two drivers involved in the fiery head-on crash on I-57 north of the Ina exit late Saturday night.
Police report the southbound semi driver that crossed the median into the northbound lanes was 55-year-old Steve Taylor of San Antonio, Texas. He was pronounced dead on the scene by Jefferson County Coroner Roger Hayse.
The driver of the northbound truck that was hit in the crash was driven by 29-year-old Ali Shakeel of Mississauga, Ontario. He was taken to a Mt. Vernon hospital and then airlifted to a regional hospital by Air Evac medical helicopter for treatment of serious injuries including burns.
Jefferson Fire officials say after the crash both trucks caught fire and burned. No hazardous materials were involved.
The crash occurred at 11:34 Saturday night.
