Patricia ‘Patti’ Ann (Koskie) Hanks, 68, of Alma, passed away Saturday, June 8th, 2024 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia surrounded by her family after a brief battle with cancer.
Patti was born June 8th, 1956 to Marjorie (Whaley/Koskie) Hults and Edward Koskie at St. Mary’s Hospital in East St. Louis. Several years later, Patti’s family relocated to Marion County, where Patti made lifelong friends and met Ernest Hanks, her best friend and the love of her life. Patti graduated from Kinmundy-Alma High School in 1974. Patti and Ernie married a short time later on September 7th, 1974. They made their home in rural Alma where they raised their children and grandchildren. Patti retired from Schutt Manufacturing in December of 2019.
Patti is survived by her husband, Ernie; daughter, Stacy Logue and husband Lester; son, Brian Hanks and wife Tina; adopted daughter, Michelle Cary; grandchildren, Michael and Jordan Sproat, Cory and Ian Logue; step-grandchildren, Victoria Deadmond, Alicia Logue, Jillian and Casey Jones; adopted granddaughter, Cassie Cary; several great-grandchildren; sisters, Judy Dunn and husband Dave, Elaine Meares and husband Bob; sister in law, Sharon Cook; brother in law, Tim Butler and many cousins and dear friends.
Patti was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Koskie and Marjorie Hults; stepfather, Wally Hults; sister, Sharon Butler; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Geraldine (Schirr) and Charles Hanks; stepmother-in-law, Dolores (Feller) Hanks, and brother in law, Floyd Cook.
Patti loved her family and God fiercely. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parrish in Kinmundy. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was always willing to help those in need and welcomed anyone who came to her house with open arms and treated them like family.
A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. at the St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Catholic Church in Kinmundy with Father Pat Peter officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday evening at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Catholic Church or to the Phillips Cemetery and will be received at the funeral home.
