A 43-year-old Centralia woman received serious injuries when struck by a car outside the front entrance of the Walgreens Store.
Centralia Police say Bridget Potter of South Elm was struck by 78-year-old Marlene Jolliff of Davis Street in Centralia before her vehicle crashed into the front doors and a portion of the front wall of Walgreens. Police report Jolliff was pulling into the handicapped parking space in front of the store when she accelerated over the top of the parking block, struck Potter, and then the store. While the front door area was crushed by the impact, the vehicle did not enter the store.
Potter was initially taken to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia before being airlifted to a St. Louis Hospital by medical helicopter.
The crash occurred at 3:24 Thursday afternoon.
