Jackie “Jack” O. Shelton, 86, of Centralia, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2024, at Centralia Manor Nursing Home.
Jack was born on Saturday, May 15, 1937, in Centralia, Illinois to John and Velva (Branch) Shelton. He married Sandra K. Soper on May 21, 1959, and they later divorced. He married Sandra (Sturgeon) Shelton on December 8, 2001, and she preceded him in death on July 31, 2017.
Jack is survived by his significant other Nancy Jones of Centralia known as “My Nancy”. Also surviving are his loving children: Kathi Schrock and husband Jeff of Michigan, Kim Greer and husband Sherman of Centralia, Terri Lynn Sanders and husband Terry of Centralia, and Jack Shelton, Jr and wife Marsha of Arizona. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren: James Taylor, Sandra Ball, Spencer Greer and wife Lucy, Chad Sanders and wife Maleah, Bruce Greer and wife Kristen, Krista Cain and husband Mitch, David Sanders and wife Courtney, Drue Sanders, Dacota and wife Lauren Sanders. Sydni Baird, and Andrea Baird and eighteen great-grandchildren; sister: Linda Greenspan and husband Paul of Centralia, and four nephews and two nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents: John and Velva Shelton, grandson: Michael Sanders, sister: Sharon Miller, as well as his spouse: Sandra Shelton, and a nephew: Mark Shaw.
Jack attended Centralia Township High School the Class of 1957 and was very active with the class reunions. Jack worked in the railroad industry for 22 years before retiring and ended his working career at Rockwell/Cambridge. Jack proudly served in the U.S. Navy. He was a passionate artist, cartoonist, and author. Jack was a member of the Palette and Brush Club. He also enjoyed bird watching, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends.
A Memorial Service for Jack Shelton will be held Friday, May 31, 2024, at 6:00 pm at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia with Pastor Joannie Naraghi officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be held prior to the service on Friday, May 31, 2024, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Funeral Home.
