Lady Cats fall in a tough one 7-3 to Freeburg to end the season. Sophomore Lilly Blagoue struck out 8 in the game and hit her 14th of the season which is the single season school record. Marah Johnson hit her 8th of the season, a 2 run shot. Lady Cats end their season 24-8, the second team in school history to win 20 games in a season and first regional title since the 84-85 season. Today at Freeburg, Flora will take on Columbia.
Also in 2a sectional semifinals, St Anthony knocked off Bloomington Central Catholic at Tolono and will play the hosts after they shutout Marshall 3-0.
The SC Lady Cougars season ends at 24-10 falling at home to Windsor/Stew Stras in their 1a Sectional semifinal 4-1. Taegen Webster doubled and drove in a run. Abi Shuler had 2 singles and Jaylyn Michel doubled. Tonight the second semifinal will be played in Kinmundy between Casey Westfield and Altamont.
In 3a regional semifinals at Civic Memorial, the hosts beat Triad 5-3 and Highland short-gamed Mascouath 12-2.
Today at Centralia, Effingham will take on Mattoon. Mount Vernon and Carbondale play from Marion.
