The theme has been selected for the 96th annual Centralia Halloween Parade.

The winning entry was announced Friday afternoon by Parade Chair Butch Mathus at St. Mary’s School in Centralia where the student submitting it was treated to a pizza party along with his entire class and family.

“It was selected by a fourth grader at St. Mary’s Grade School. A little gentleman named Turner Aydt.  This year’s theme is ‘Monsters and Mischief’.  We went through close to 150 entries.  We went through three rounds of selection processing.”

Mathus thinks the theme will be a good one.

“With this kind of theme, it opens up the imagination to float builders.  We look forward to that.  I’ll be getting everything up on the website shortly.  Next week, I’ll mail out entry forms to last year’s participants. We look forward to a wonderful parade this year.”

The parade, which is always the last Saturday in October, will be on October 28th at seven pm.
