The SC Lady Cougars won the Richland County Tournament in Olney over the weekend. They opened with a 10-0 win over Lawrenceville. Taegan Webster homered and drove in 2, Brooklyn Garrett also hit a home run and drove in 3. Ella Watwood had 2 hits and drove in a run.
SC then knocked off Oney 2-1 in 8-innings for the championship. Webster worked all 8 innings allowing just 4 hits and struck out 9. At the plate she drove in a run along with Jaylyn Michel who tripled. Garrett, Abi Shuler and Amelia Montes all added hits. SC ends the regular season with a record of 22-9 and will play at home to open up regional play as the top seed tomorrow against the winner of today’s game between Webber and Cisne.
The 1a regional play-in games are today. Cisne is at Bluford, Christ Our Rock hosts Lebanon, CHBC is at Central A&M, Ramsey plays at Mulberry Grove, Gibault is at New Athens.
