The shuttered Central City Lumber Company has new life as the new Central City Home Center.

A ribbon cutting and grand opening were held over the weekend.

Owner Dan Ramey says he’s glad the complex once again has a productive purpose giving residents another shopping opportunity and creating tax dollars for the area.

“Took a 3000 square foot original plumbing store they had this and we increased the size of that to 15,000 square feet of just pure showroom.  Coupled with that we have enclosed some building here and taken the existing 12,000 square feet of Central City Lumber and with all that we have about 25,000 sq. ft.”

Ramey says that gives them a lot of display space plus a warehouse full of other appliances and furniture.

“About 750 appliances and about 30 living room outfits, 100 chairs, a dozen or so different mattresses and bedroom outfits so we have a very broad segment of things.  Every major brand from Whirlpool to Speed Queen, Maytag dishwashers, ranges, cook tops, and microwaves.  You name it, we got it.”

Ramey says they do deliveries and setups.   Between the new store and the Centralia Home Center which specializes in home improvements and construction, the businesses have about 25 employees.

Debbie and Bill Smith, who formerly ran the Sears Store in Centralia, are managing the new Central City Home Center.
