Deloris M. Gaule, age 84 of Salem, passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at Twin Willows Nursing Center in Salem.
Deloris was born on September 16, 1939, in Lenox, Iowa, the daughter of Jesse and LaVaughn (Johnson) Delaney. She married Floyd Lee “Bud” Gaule on March 9, 1956, and after spending 31 years united in marriage, he preceded her in death on October 25, 1987.
Survivors include her children, Jeanine Riley and husband Jack of Salem, Gerald Gaule and wife Beth of Papillion, Nebraska, Judith Freeman and husband Jim of Effingham, Jonita Purcell and husband Floyd of Alma, and James “Jim” Gaule of Honolulu, Hawaii; grandchildren, Jason Riley and wife Sarah, Justin Riley, Amanda Lidster and husband Jamie, Aaron Freeman and wife Karissa, Hunter Purcell and wife Kim, Taylor Crum and husband Logan, Summer Thomas and husband Brenden, Austin Gaule, and Andrew Gaule and husband Josh Nichols; seven great- grandchildren; a brother, Robert Delaney of Springfield, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and LaVaughn; her husband, Floyd; and a sister, Marie Simmons.
Deloris was of the Baptist Faith. She was a wonderful mother and a homemaker.
A private graveside service for Deloris M. Gaule will be held at Paradise Cemetery in Salem at a later date.
