2024 05/09 – Betty Lou Newman

Betty Lou Newman, 87, of Centralia passed away Sunday, May 5, 2024, at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.

She was born on August 25, 1936, the daughter of Albert and Minnie (Haney) Hamilton in Centralia. She married Kenneth Newman, and he preceded her in death on November 13, 2021.

Survivors include her beloved family, son, David Newman (Vicki) of Florida; daughter, Connie Newman of Centralia; 4 grandchildren, Jeremy Newman-Reed (Kaci), Anson Meyer, Zachary Michael, and Megan (Ben) Wilson; and many nieces and nephews.

Along with her husband Kenneth, Betty was preceded in death by her parents; and her daughter Diane Meyer.

Betty was the heart of her home, making sure to always provide a welcome, loving home for her family and friends. She enjoyed spending sunny days outside, tending to her beautiful flower and vegetable gardens. She was overjoyed to be a grandma and dedicated her time to support her grandchildren. Betty was a true lady who was kind and generous with her time, and she leaves behind a legacy of love that will live on in the hearts of everyone whose lives she touched.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 9, 2024, at the Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia. A visitation time with the family to offer words of comfort and condolences will be held at 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home in Centralia. Memorials may be made in Betty’s honor to the Donoho Prairie Church – Texico or First Baptist Church – Centralia.
