The Salem Community High School Board has two new members.  Kyle Gansauer and Sean Morris were elected on April 4th while Sarah Meador was elected to another term.

The board voted to keep Eric Bandy as President and Marla Tolliver as Vice-President.   Milrea Howe will remain as secretary and Kim Martin as treasurer.

After the meeting, the board members discussed why they wanted to serve on the board for the next year years.

Gansauer explained.

“I have two kids coming up in the Salem schools and thought this would be a great opportunity to get involved and not only impact their experience but all the other kids in the community.”

Morris is returning to the board after winning a write-in contest.

“I have served on the board previously for almost 5 years.  I’ve got school-aged children coming in the district so I think people with a vested interest coming up should serve on the board.”

Meador wants to serve as a watchdog.

“I very much want to make sure the school is very conscious of taxpayers.  I need to represent the taxpayers.  A lot of times schools forget especially when they get the money from the state that there are people out there that are paying that money.  And I also want to help my community.”

The Salem Community High School Board will continue to meet on the third Monday of each month at seven pm.
