Ronnie Lee Henson, 66, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away on April 21, 2024, at SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital in Saint Louis, Missouri. He was born April 24, 1957, in Sterling, Illinois to the late Howard and Betty (McDoneld) Henson.
Ronnie is survived by his siblings, Eddie Henson, Marie Garner, and Brenda Atchison and husband, Jim; son, Jarrod Henson; several nieces and nephews, including special nieces, Angel Rector and Brandi Witzel; special friend, Carolyn Patterson-Overturf; and his fur baby and beloved companion, Oscar.
In addition to his parents, Ronnie was preceded in death by his brothers, Mike McDoneld, Brad Henson, and Billy Henson; best friend, Charlie Patterson; and nephew, William Henson. Ronnie spent most of his adult life working as a chef. His last 15 years working were at Ryan’s Steakhouse. He was very proud of being a chef. Ronnie enjoyed hanging out with his friends at the Hideout. He was dearly loved by his friends and family.
A Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 24, 2024, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. A Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Poplar Creek Cemetery west of Orchardville on State Route 161 Ext. Memorials may be made in Ronnie’s honor to the Henson family, in care of Marie Garner.
