The Community Resource Center participated in the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day program for the first time.
The event at the CRC facility on Martin Luther King Drive in Centralia involved displays and information by several community organizations as well as the resource center. Morgan Isaiah says they wanted the public to know they were a source of NARCAN which helps those who take an overdose of an opioid drug like heroin or fentanyl.
“We also have free NARCAN training and if you ever need NARCAN, it is available free at the Community Resource Center.”
The displays and the collection of no longer-wanted prescription drugs brought a number of visitors to the center for the special day on Friday.
Area police departments collected no longer prescription drugs on Saturday, but Salem and Centralia Police as well as the Marion County Sheriff’s Department say they will take the expired drugs at any time. Early tabulations at the Salem Police Department, indicate more than 100 pounds of drugs were turned in during the turn back period on Saturday.
