2024 04/06 – James Lisenbey

James Lisenbey, age 90 of Mt. Vernon Passed away Sunday, March 31st at St.Mary’s Hospital in Centralia.

James was born in Kell on November 11, 1933, the son of Aud and Ella (Heflin)Lisenbey. He married his wife of 67 years, Norma Jean Garges, on March 21, 1956and she preceded him in death on January 8, 2024.

Jim is survived by his daughter Paula Graham and husband Scott of Mt. Vernon and by many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Lisenbey served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed in North Carolina and Honolulu Hawaii. He was part of the 101st Airborne Division and the 14th Infantry.  After his Army service, he returned to the States and worked for many years at Benoist Brothers and Dowzer Electric. After ”retirement” he worked for DickPurdue as a farm hand. Jim and Norma traveled extensively and they loved the mountains and the seashore. Jim loved our Lord Jesus Christ and he and Norma were members of the Logan Street Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon. He loved to hunt and especially loved to hunt squirrels and birds, although he refused to hunt doves as he considered those the Lord’s birds. He also spent time training bird dogs.

Funeral Services for James Lisenbey will be on Saturday at noon at the L. R. Osborn & Son Funeral Home in Kell with the Reverend Stacy Tate officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 until noon. Burial will Take place at Panther ForkCemetery near Texico.
