Griffin Day’s grand slam wasn’t enough as Salem fell on the road in prep baseball to Triad 11-8 on a day for hitters. Aden Susmena drove in 2 with RBI also from Kam Wilkins and Gavin Zimmerman who doubled twice. Jalen Inlow added 2 hits along with Noah Nix. Keaton Gullion stole his 6th base of the season and scored a run. Salem returns to Cahokia play today when they host Freeburg.
The Salem Wildcats are in action today as they host the Freeburg Midgets to SCHS Field. Salem is 3-5 on the season and 1-1 in the Cahokia. Freeburg enters at 3-6 overall but 2-0 in the league. Freeburg comes in having lost to Waterloo yesterday 6-5. First pitch in Salem set for 4:30.
The Salem JV lost at Mattoon 6-5 in a game played at Lake Land College. Mattoon scored four times in the fourth and held off a Salem rally late. Cooper Lobek, Brody Collier and Colten Starnes drove in runs. Aden Bass added a single along with Braden REctor and Ryan Detering. Lobek, Carter Lowe and Aden Rostance worked on the mound for the JV Cats who will travel to Freeburg this afternoon.

- South Central scored five runs in the seventh inning to break open a tight game winning at Newton 8-2 to improve the Cougars to 7-0 on the season. Aidan Dodson was the winning pitcher allowing 1 hit and striking out 10 in his five innings of work. Anthony Buonaura worked the final 2 innings of relief. SC got RBI from Dodson, Buonaura, and Andrew Magnus. Chase Thompson had 2 hits and scored, Ethan Watwood also single and scored.
- Breese Central beat Okawville 15-0. Brody Zobrist got the win. Chase Lewis with a homer.
- Columbia beat Waterloo Gibault 10-0.
