Scott Duane “Skeeter” Hampton, 59, of Belle Rive, Illinois, passed away at 6:28 pm on March 26, 2024, at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon, Illinois. He was born November 19, 1964, in Mount Vernon, Illinois to John and Barbara Ann (Davis) Hampton.
In addition to his parents, Scott is survived by his daughter, Alyson Danae Greenwalt and husband, Noah of Memphis, Tennessee; siblings, Jerry L. Hampton and wife, Janet of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Carlton L. Hampton and wife, Susan of Tucson, Arizona, Kevin D. Hampton and wife, Rema of Vail, Arizona, Brent A. Hampton and wife, Josie of Greenville, North Carolina; several nieces and nephews, including special niece, Louesa Lambert of Fort Defiance, Virginia.
Mr. Hampton was a proud Corporal of Marines from 1983 – 1987. He was a life member of Mount Vernon Lodge #31 A.F. & A.M., Ainaid Shriners, and Mount Vernon American Legion Post #141. Scott was a 1983 graduate from Mount Vernon Township High School. He was very athletic in his younger years and an extreme motorcycle enthusiast.
A Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at 10:00 to 11:30 am at Keenes Christian Church in Keenes, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 11:30 am with Mr. Tim Coonce officiating. Interment will follow at Belle Rive Cemetery in Belle Rive, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Scott’s honor to Shriners Hospital for Children in Saint Louis or Fishers House at J.B. VA Hospital.
